I was born in Venice (Italy) in 1978 and now I live in Gentilino (Switzerland) since 2012. I got my Master Degree in Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in 2002, where I also got my Ph.D. in Industrial Biomedical Engineering in 2006.
I am currently, from July 2013, holding a Full Professor position in biomaterials here at SUPSI, where in Nov. 2013 I was appointed Head of the Biomaterials Laboratory at the Department of Innovative Technologies, where from Oct. 2016 I’m also heading the Bio-Environmental Technology laboratory.
Coordinator in the working group on biomaterials and regulatory aspects of the Swiss KTI National Thematic Network Inartis, working group on biomaterials and regulatory aspects, demanded to propose developments and strategies at a national level in this area.
Member and SUPSI representative within TEDD, Tissue Engineering and Drug Delivery Competence Center, coordinated by Prof. Ursula Graf in Wadenswil at ZHAW (Zürcher Hochschulen für Angewandte Wissenschaften).
Member, and SUPSI representative, with national working group at Bundesamt für Lebensmittelsicherheit und Veterinärwesen for the development of a national competence center (BLV-3R) dealing with the “3R” research protocol (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement), focusing on in vitro and preclinical substitutive and ameliorative protocols with respect to current animal studies.
